Pre-Game Report: Giants at Cougars

The Vancouver Giants will visit the CN Centre to take on the Prince George Cougars on Friday night in the first of back-to-back games between the teams in PG. The Giants have won all three games in the season series thus far.

Vancouver hasn't played in a week after beating the Seattle Thunderbirds 6-3 last Friday at the Pacific Coliseum. The G-Men have now picked up at least a point in seven straight games and sit eighth in the Western Conference standings, three points clear of the ninth-place Cougars. Friday's game marks the start of a busy week for the Giants as they'll play six games in the next nine nights. Vancouver's divisional record sits at 7-1-0-0.

The Cougars last played on Saturday when they lost 5-1 to the Red Deer Rebels on the road, but captain Troy Bourke was in the line-up for Team WHL on both Wednesday and Thursday night in the two Subway Super Series games against Russia in Red Deer and Lethbridge, Alberta. This weekend's games are crucial for the Cougars as they could find themselves as far as seven points behind the Giants if they lose both contests but could overtake Vancouver in the standings with two regulation wins.
